Elements

On the one hand, it's not clear to me whether Mike Stanfill has permission to provide Tom Lehrer's song "The Elements" as a Flash animation online. On the other hand, it's so charming that I'm having a hard time faulting him for it. And he does provide links to buy Lehrer's recordings and songbook from Amazon.

But I'd like it even more if there were more cute bits specific to individual elements.

Thanks to Rebecca S. for the link.

Neat. For some reason, I found the final screen (over the words of "and there may be many others but they haven't been discovered") really... mmmm... inspiring? pride-inducing for the folks who discovered them?

Not sure how to describe it. But a good, positive, happy, proud-of-scientists feeling.

Okay, very cool - and because of this I found : http://www.webelements.com/

Online table of elements with tons of useful (and trivial) information each element. Perhaps one of the better "learning" sites I have ever seen online.

Shannon: Cool site!

Also of interest in this vein... Yhe Wooden Periodic Table.

(Umm, "Yhe" = "The". But you knew that.)
