Finished the zeppelin story and mailed it. Whew.
(I've been capitalizing Zeppelin all this time, under the impression that that was standard. But this morning I was looking at a book about them and noticed that it consistently used lowercase, and I checked the dictionary and found that the dictionary also said lowercase. Unless you're talking about Ferdinand Adolf August Heinrich Graf von Zeppelin himself, in which case of course you capitalize it.)
I've been meaning for months to post a whole bunch of cool zeppelin links in the hopes of inspiring others to write zeppelin stories, but it's too late now. I may still post some at some point, but don't hold your breath.
I'm tempted to make all sorts of comments here about the writing process, and where various parts of the story came from, and what I was trying to do with it, and all that, but since David and Jay may read this entry before they read the story, I'm gonna hold off for now and let the story speak for itself. But I will say it was fun to write.
Having just read this entry, I appreciate your holding back. But I'm quite curious to see what you have to say -- post away next week. We're slush partying this weekend.
Same here.
Enjoy your slush, guys. (My own contribution to the slush mountain should've gotten there as of today.)
Well, if you're not posting cool zeppelin links, may I?
I loved this brochure at airships.net. Had I found it earlier in the writing process, my story might have turned out very different. (Not better, maybe, but different.)
Arrived safe and sound, Jed.
(And what do you know, Mr. Freed — yours was the next one in the stack.)
Got yours, too, Vera.
Wow—great Hindenburg brochure! Thanks!
And David, thanks much for letting me/us know the subs arrived safely! That's always a relief to hear.
