Campbell Award Smackdown

I neglected to mention, in talking about WisCon, attending the first-ever Campbell Award Smackdown, featuring full-contact rock/paper/scissors among the three Campbell Award nominees who were at the con.

I was amused that at WisCon, the world's only feminist science fiction convention, all three of this year's male Campbell nominees but neither of the female nominees (Karin Lowachee and Chris Moriarty) were present.

Also of possible interest to Campbell trivia buffs: both of the women on this year's ballot qualified by publishing novels; all three of the men qualified by publishing short stories.

Comments

The problem with cons is that I while I know I was talking to someone about full contact Rock-Paper-Scissors before the the smackdown was announced, I haven't a clue who and clearly guessed incorrectly. Perhaps it was just synchronicity. Because I'm sure people talk about stuff like that all the time...
