This is probably all old news by now, but I wanted to at least note it all in passing.
- I haven't been able to bring myself to even read most of the news articles about Hurricane Stan ("more than 1,000 people dead and hundreds of thousands of people homeless") or the Pakistan earthquake ("Death toll estimates ranged from 20,000 to 30,000"). Oh, and in the midst of all the Katrina stuff a month ago, I (and many others) never did get around to mentioning the 1000 Iraqis killed in a panicked crowd on a bridge at the end of August.
- Compared to the above, this seems minor; and I think someone may've linked to this in comments anyway. But now I can't find it in comments, so I'll go ahead and post it: A couple weeks ago, Schwarzenegger vetoed the same-sex marriage bill, as he had said he would do. Alas.
- And as Nick Park has noted, this seems really minor in light of the abovementioned natural disasters, but still worth mentioning sadly: "Blaze destroys Wallace and Gromit's history."
