Not quite a record

In January, 2006, the Strange Horizons fiction department received 339 submissions, which is 3 short of the record set in January of 2005.

After that first week of 2006, when volume was roughly double normal, it's receded back to the high side of normal levels and stayed that way. I'm glad to have been wrong in my prediction of steady ultra-high volume throughout January.

Comments

At Interzone, the counter stopped at 369, 4 short of the (record) total of 373 in August 2005.

I might add that I had a considerable deadline crush: 28 subs on January 30, and 21 on January 31.
