Advice for parents of newborns

Mary Anne has posted a detailed list of things she wishes she'd known before having a baby. Yeah, I know, everyone wants to give advice to new parents. But still, those of you who have just had or are about to have a baby might find it useful.

On "not getting out" with your newborn: give this up if you have a toddler at home, in pre-school, etc. They'll bring home lots of fun germs anyway, and they need to get out; and where mommy goeth, so goeth your newbie.
