Paralympics photos

Amazing, inspiring, and informative photos from the Paralympics, which are going on in Beijing right now.

Blind soccer. One-armed archery. Runners and swimmers without legs. Wheelchair fencing.

To me, the coolest thing about these photos is that they show that the participants are clearly athletes, engaged in athletic competition. (There are even a couple of agony-of-defeat kinds of photos.) I imagine that most of them are stronger and faster and better-coordinated than I'll ever be.

From an entirely different angle, as someone interested in sf, I also like the kind of cyborg look of some of them with their supporting equipment.
