SH fiction temporary closure

The Strange Horizons fiction department will be closing to submissions in November and December this year. We briefly contemplated staying open to subs through November, now that we've got more people reading incoming subs, but we're so far behind on reading (about five weeks at this point) that we're going to need all the time we can get to catch up.

But with luck, that'll mean we'll finish replying to all subs by the end of November or so, and we'll get most of December off, and we'll be invigorated and ready when the submission flood begins again in January. Here's hoping.

Anyway, so if there's anything you want us to consider before the end of the year, submit it to us by the end of October.

As usual, this applies only to the fiction department; all other departments will remain open.

By the way, sorry we're being so slow with responses. Our average response time lately has been about six weeks, much longer than our more usual 30 days or so. We're still getting most responses out within 70 days, but a few have gone over lately. We're hoping to make significant progress on our backlog soon.
