Just learned that Henry Selick (Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach) is directing a movie based on Coraline (yes, the Neil Gaiman book), to be released in about a month.
The preview leads me to suspect that I'll have much the same reaction as to Selick's previous movies: visually excellent, but not so much my kind of thing otherwise. But I'm sure I'll see it anyway. IIrc, I liked the book rather more than I expected to.

The studio sent out 50 special boxes to various website owners, and to Gaiman as well. Kinda neat. Gaiman blogged about his here.
I'm the only person I know who really didn't like the book -- but I saw the movie trailer recently, and I like the looks of it.
