I flip my latkes in the air sometimes

At the latke party tonight, I was wondering why they were playing “Dynamite,” by Taio Cruz, a popular song with a catchy tune that I hear on the radio now and then.

And then I listened closer to the lyrics and realized that it was not exactly the same song.

Turns out it was a song called “Candlelight,” by a group called The Maccabeats—an a cappella group from Yeshiva University. It's a Hanukkah song to the tune of “Dynamite.”

Fun and (of course) catchy. You can watch the video (4 min) on YouTube, and/or buy the song for a dollar at the iTunes Store.

The video has gone viral, with over a million views so far, so I imagine a bunch of you have seen it already, but since I had never heard of it until tonight, figured it was worth passing along.

Happy Hanukkah!

In that case, you may also have missed this medley...

Nice video. I don't think I recognize any of the songs they're parodying (I assume they're parodies?), but I like all the dancing people in the T-shirts.
