Book Report: The King Must Die

Your Humble Blogger has always liked The King Must Die. It’s not my very favorite Mary Renault, which is The Mask of Apollo, but it’s probably next favorite. It’s amazing how much I liked the physical daring of Theseus, when I was such a timid child. Well, not timid, and again it isn’t particularly amazing that a timid child would like to lose himself in an action-hero fantasy. Particularly when the action hero is smallish, and although powerfully built, wins primarily through application of keen intelligence to, well, thumping people. And animals. And animal-people. You know.
