Book Report: An Uncommon Reader

Your Humble Reader is getting behindhand in book reports again. And I'm sick as a dog. So I'll just dash off a short note about a short book. The Uncommon Reader is marvelous. I'm a big fan of Alan Bennett, who seems to write plays, memoirs and novellas with nearly equal facility, and I think fans of Alan Bennett are pretty nearly guaranteed to enjoy this book.

Really, though, this is a book about reading (and the monarchy), and has plenty in for anyone who enjoys reading (or the monarchy); you needn't be a fan of Alan Bennett (or the Queen) particularly.
