Book Report: Fly-By-Night

Your Humble Blogger would have expected by now to be utterly sick of fantasy books for ten-year-olds. And, in fact, when I picked up Fly-By-Night by Frances Hardinge, I thought to myself Self I thought You will get three chapters into this cheap knock-off and find yourself slogging through two hundred pages of predictable trite and utterly tedious claptrap.

Fortunately, such was not the case. Sure, most of the credit belongs to Ms. Hardinge, who actually wrote the book, but I feel that it is a significant accomplishment on my part to keep my mental apparatus fresh enough to enjoy a good book in a worn-out category.
