In other news...

The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant! The Giants win the pennant!

This is particularly notable because Bad Things happen to the Giants in Philadelphia. And that Philly team is awfully good—a significantly better team than my Gigantes, honestly. But this time, this time the Giants win the pennant.

Oh, my. Oh, my, my.

Tolerabimus quod tolerare debemus,

the similarity to the rangers-yankees series was creepy, but certainly added a flavor of destiny.

Except that the Rangers clearly outplayed the Yankees, or at least outpitched them. The Giants didn't outplay the Phillies, but then the Phillies didn't outplay the Giants either, and the wins fell the Giants' way. If Charlie Manuel had managed his pitching staff better, or if Halladay hadn't pulled a groin muscle and had to come out early in game 5, tempting Manuel to use Oswalt (ineffectively) in relief, the results in Game 6 could easily have been different--one more inning from Oswalt, one less inning for Ryan Madson, a different carom of the outfield wall on Howard's double, and we have a Game 7 instead of a Giants win. Not to diminish the Giants--they played well enough to win. But this game 6 was a lot different from game 6 in the Rangers-Yankees series.

it's really only a lifestyle choice.
