Sick day

Didn't get enough sleep again last night. Later, was preparing to head in to work, and suddenly started feeling generally ooky: woozy; upset stomach; barely able to stay awake.

Called in sick to a meeting, spent most of the day lying on the couch, alternating between dozing and reading, mostly The Whim of the Dragon.

Feeling better this evening, though still not 100%.

Finished the book. Fascinating ending. Throughout the trilogy (this is the third of the Secret Country books), I regularly despaired of there being satisfying answers to the vast multitude of conundrums, mysteries, and puzzles that piled one upon another; I was somewhat heartened by the characters regularly listing the questions they were pondering, because it made clear that the author hadn't forgotten those open questions, but was still dubious that she could answer them all before running out of pages. But I think she may actually have pulled it off.

(Also, the iPhone 4 continues to be a pleasant reading experience. I read the whole book in two weeks, mostly in the week since finishing Jane Eyre, which is much faster than I've been reading books on paper this year.)

Had a brief phone chat with Debby B. Rewatched an early Gilmore Girls episode while entering subs into the database. Am now doing other magazine administrative stuff and intermittently (and desultorily) reading subs. (I know, no writer wants to hear that subs get read desultorily. Sorry. It happens sometimes.)

Am proud of myself for actually returning a wedding RSVP immediately after receiving the invitation in the mail, possibly for the first time ever.

And that's about the extent of my capabilities today. Off to do more magazine stuff, then sleep.
