These series generally have the following characteristics:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n  <li>New\/original stories, not reprints.<\/li>\r\n  <li>Unthemed; stories can be on any topic.<\/li>\r\n  <li>Three or more volumes.<\/li>\r\n  <li>Usually fairly high-profile and fairly prestigious.<\/li>\r\n  <li>The title of each volume is usually the series title followed by the volume number, such as <cite>Starlight 3<\/cite>.<\/li>\r\n  <li>Usually a mix of science fiction and fantasy.<\/li>\r\n  <li>The title is usually astronomy-related in some way.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>The tradition started with the <cite>Star<\/cite> anthologies (the first of which was published in 1953); later series in a similar vein included <cite>Orbit<\/cite>, <cite>Universe<\/cite>, and <cite>Starlight<\/cite>.<\/p>\r\n<p>In 2023, I created a list of series that meet the above criteria, which I published as a <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1x4gQiTcKi2AwKWyonspCwYfuzzdOeuZrpoEggbG0qCQ\/edit?usp=sharing\">spreadsheet<\/a>.
