So I\u2019m updating it, but not yet done doing so; still a bunch of changes to make.)<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>I\u2019m a generalist. Here are some of my main interests:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n  <li><a href=\"#opinions\">Politics, philosophies, and attitudes<\/a><\/li>\r\n  <li><a href=\"#hobbies\">Recreation and hobbies<\/a><\/li>\r\n  <li><a href=\"#art\">Favorite works of art\/fiction\/music\/etc.<\/a><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 id=\"opinions\">Opinions, philosophies, and attitudes<\/h3>\r\n\r\n<p>Here are some areas that I have particularly strong or unusual opinions in:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n  <li>computers (Make interfaces usable! Teach computer literacy! Empower users!)<\/li>\r\n  <li>pacifism (Teach Nonviolence!)<\/li>\r\n  <li>education (Down with grades! Help people learn how to learn and how to enjoy learning!)<\/li>\r\n  <li>environmentalism (Ride a bicycle to work! Use public transportation! Vote Green!  Emphasize sustainability!)<\/li>\r\n  <li>anarchism, of the idealist\/pacifist variety (\u201cAnarchy: it\u2019s not the law, it\u2019s just a good idea.\u201d)<\/li>\r\n  <li>LGBTQIA+ issues (be inclusive, not exclusive!)<\/li>\r\n  <li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.polyamory.org\/\">polyamory<\/a> and related issues (\u201cMonogamy leaves a lot to be desired.\u201d)<\/li>\r\n  <li>gender-neutral language (If gender-neutral <i>they<\/i> was good enough for Jane Austen, it\u2019s good enough for me.)<\/li>\r\n  <li>electronic privacy (Promote end-to-end encryption!)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 id=\"hobbies\">Recreation and hobbies<\/h1>\r\n\r\n<p>I\u2019m a dabbler\u2014or, to put it nicely, a dilettante. I don\u2019t do serious research, but I\u2019m at least mildly interested in lots of things.<\/p>\r\n<p>Here are some particular interests at the moment:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n  <li>reading, especially science fiction and fantasy<\/li>\r\n  <li>games of all sorts, but especially boardgames<\/li>\r\n  <li>puns, light verse, and other forms of <a href=\"\/web\/20210123233903\/https:\/\/www.kith.org\/logos\/words\/words.html\">wordplay<\/a><\/li>\r\n  <li>singing rounds<\/li>\r\n  <li>writing fiction<\/li>\r\n  <li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/logos\/things\/reading.html\">reading aloud<\/a>, and listening to others do so<\/li>\r\n  <li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.juggling.org\/\">juggling<\/a><\/li>\r\n  <li>typography<\/li>\r\n  <li>user interface design<\/li>\r\n  <li>linguistics, particularly etymology and phonology<\/li>\r\n  <li>artificial intelligence (not the generative kind)<\/li>\r\n  <li>electronic books and online document viewers<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 id=\"art\">Favorite works of art\/fiction\/music\/etc.<\/h3>\r\n\r\n<p>My tastes are somewhat eclectic.
