Needs Flash, I think. What appears to be exactly the same <a href=\"http:\/\/www.popularfront.com\/snowdays\/\">snowflake maker<\/a> is also available at Popular Front. (I think PF created it for Amtrak.) Here's <a href=\"http:\/\/www.popularfront.com\/snowdays\/index.html?id=7495076\">my snowflake<\/a> (have to wait for it to load, and then to \"fall\" (labeled \"your friend's\"); may take a while; may not be worth the wait).<\/p>\n<p>Barkley Interactive has a similar <a href=\"http:\/\/snowflakes.barkleyus.com\/\">snowflake maker<\/a>, though the interface isn't quite as nice.<\/p>\n<p>At Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories, you can <a href=\"http:\/\/www.evilmadscientist.com\/article.php\/snowflake\">create a snowflake<\/a> using a little application written in the amazing Processing graphics language; you can output it into various vector graphics formats formats, and then if you have access to a \"CNC machine, laser cutter, 3D fabber, vinyl cutter, or so forth,\" you can create a physical copy in vinyl, metal, or other material.<\/p>\n<p>At Zefrank, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zefrank.com\/snowflake\/\">snowflake<\/a> drawing tools are more limited, but you can rotate the result in 3D.<\/p>\n<p>See also a page on cutting a <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/chaoticutopia\/2007\/12\/fractal_paper_snowflakes_fract.php\">Koch snowflake curve<\/a> out of paper, and some lovely <a href=\"http:\/\/www.its.caltech.edu\/~atomic\/snowcrystals\/photos\/photos.htm\">snow crystal photos<\/a>, which I may've linked to at some point in the past.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Amtrak&#8217;s snowflake maker is pretty cute&#8211;simulating cutting a snowflake out of paper.
