Arguably in bad taste to point to these after the man lost, but I've been meaning to point to 'em for three months now, and they're very funny.

An excellent set of road signs that appeared in Exeter in 2000. One for Fairies, one for Snails, one for Squid, and several others that are even more unusual. Very nicely done. Many of you will probably be able to guess which one's my favorite when you see it.

Lorem ipsum text printed on a tie. If I wore ties more often, this would be tempting. (I suppose this one should go in my words blog. Maybe I'll crosspost.)

Pakistan's decorated vehicles. Way cool.

Super-cool trains and buildings. That was a nifty photo blog; it subsequently moved to a new location, but is still posting neat photos of all sorts. Some other cool stuff from older entries in the original version of the blog:

Cardiff and Kansas City public libraries with giant-book facades

12 stunning lighthouses

9 creative staircases

11 phenomenal images of earth (some of which are of disasters that killed lots of people, unfortunately)

Frand's Mind Bender--a physical instance of a virtual puzzle from LambdaMoo. Jay S created the virtual version many years ago; the physical version, created by someone else, is new.

Many big photos of inauguration-related stuff, most particularly the amazing Lego inauguration scene at Legoland in California. The figures are much more recognizable as particular individuals than Lego minifigs tend to be. The Guardian has more photos, including a bunch of closeups of individuals.

Mary Anne regularly posts photos of Kavi; my favorites in recent months, I think, were Kavi as a pirate back in October.

I got curious about the Joker's appearance the other day. It turns out that his original look was (intentionally) fairly closely modeled after Conrad Veidt in The Man Who Laughs.

And now I think I'm down to under a hundred windows open in Safari.
