{"id":12171,"date":"2009-06-14T18:21:50","date_gmt":"2009-06-15T01:21:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/jed\/2009\/06\/14\/12171.html"},"modified":"2009-06-14T18:21:50","modified_gmt":"2009-06-15T01:21:50","slug":"the-iran-situation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/jed\/2009\/06\/14\/the-iran-situation\/","title":{"rendered":"The Iran situation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In case anyone who's interested doesn't already know this, <a href=\"http:\/\/andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com\/\">Andrew Sullivan<\/a> has been posting lots and lots of info about the aftermath of the Iranian election, though <a href=\"http:\/\/andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com\/the_daily_dish\/2009\/06\/the-msm-and-iran.html\">as he acknowledges<\/a>, he's not holding his info up to strict journalistic verifiability standards. Lots of material from Twitter, for example, especially from <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#search?q=%23iranelection\">#iranelection<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There's a fair bit of debate in other parts of the blogosphere (and presumably the rest of the world) over the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.juancole.com\/2009\/06\/class-v-culture-wars-in-iranian.html\">legitimacy of the election results<\/a>; see the comments thread to that post for some disagreement with it.<\/p>\n<p>I don't have enough information to have an opinion. But it's clear that there's a widespread belief, both inside and outside Iran, that Ahmadinejad stole the election, and there's a lot of material that, if true, is damning.
