{"id":12209,"date":"2009-07-01T10:25:54","date_gmt":"2009-07-01T17:25:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/jed\/2009\/07\/01\/12209.html"},"modified":"2009-07-01T10:25:54","modified_gmt":"2009-07-01T17:25:54","slug":"recent-queer-anniversaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/jed\/2009\/07\/01\/recent-queer-anniversaries\/","title":{"rendered":"Recent queer anniversaries"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>There's been much press lately about this past Sunday (June 28) having been the 40th anniversary of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stonewall_riots\">Stonewall riots<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And there's been a fair bit of press in some circles about June 16 having been the anniversary of the first legal same-sex marriages in California.<\/p>\n<p>But I only just noticed that June 26 was the sixth anniversary of the decision in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lawrence_v._Texas\">Lawrence v. Texas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>(I am amused that if you Google [Lawrence v. Texas], the first three results are phonebook results for people named Lawrence, with middle initial V, living in Texas.)<\/p>\n<p>I noticed that because I happened across my journal entry from shortly after that decision was issued, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/jed\/2003\/06\/28\/1254.html\">discussing the ruling<\/a>.
