{"id":12994,"date":"2010-05-14T09:38:45","date_gmt":"2010-05-14T16:38:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/jed\/2010\/05\/14\/12994.html"},"modified":"2010-05-14T09:38:45","modified_gmt":"2010-05-14T16:38:45","slug":"magazine-anniversary-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/jed\/2010\/05\/14\/magazine-anniversary-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Magazine anniversary year"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Mary Anne first started putting together staff for the magazine that became <cite>Strange Horizons<\/cite> back around January of 2000, but it wasn't until mid-May that she <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mamohanraj.com\/journal\/show-entry.php?Entry_ID=2481\">publicly announced<\/a> that the magazine would be happening; ten years ago today.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of days later, she <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mamohanraj.com\/journal\/show-entry.php?Entry_ID=2483\">gave more info<\/a> about the motivations and (then-tentative) plans.<\/p>\n<p>We didn't launch until <a href=\"http:\/\/www.strangehorizons.com\/2000\/20000901\/\">September 1, 2000<\/a>, so still three and a half months to go 'til the tenth anniversary of the launch.
