I watched the pilot of Community, but didn't like it much (though I might give it another chance, 'cause I hear it gets better as it goes on). I liked the pilot of Friday Night Lights more, but probably not enough to keep going with it. I've watched an individual episode each of a bunch of the police procedurals—Criminal Minds, Without a Trace, CSI, NCIS, etc—but none of them has appealed to me; so far, the only thing I've liked about any of them is Mandy Patinkin on Criminal Minds. I saw the pilot of Rizzoli & Isles, but I'll talk about that in a separate post. Have also seen one or two episodes each of Fringe, Eureka, Smallville, Bones, and Warehouse 13, none of which have really appealed to me. The little I've seen of The Ghost Whisperer has looked kind of intriguing, but probably not enough so to get me to watch it.

As for the abovementioned three shows I do like:

I haven't been able to get TNT on my TV since the last time Comcast messed with my channels, and I haven't bothered to fix it because I can watch Leverage on the Comcast website.

Almost everything else I've wanted to watch lately is available on that website, on Hulu, and/or on the iTunes Store.

So the only things I've been watching on my TV lately have been Caprica (which hasn't had new episodes in a while) on Syfy and Dr. Who on BBC America.

So those are the only two TV channels that I particularly want to receive.

I used to receive them. But Comcast recently sent me a confusing notice to the effect that I was getting more channels than I was paying for, so they were downgrading me.

So I called them just now. And according to Comcast, the lowest-cost package that I can get that includes both of those channels will cost me $80/month.

$80/month for two TV shows?

No, thanks.

So I think I'll be canceling my Comcast TV subscription. (That'll cause my Internet cost to go up a little, but I think not a lot.)

(I should note that Comcast has been, on the whole, very good to me. My experience with their Internet service continues to be a hundred times better than my experience with AT&T's DSL. And my experiences with Comcast's customer service have also been a huge improvement over my experiences with AT&T's.)

I might reconsider at some future time when there are more shows I want to watch. But then again, by that time the Internet-delivered TV situation may've improved to the point where I don't need Comcast TV.

In the meantime, I'll continue occasionally rewatching Gilmore Girls, and may pick up various shows on DVD that I haven't seen yet: The Wire, Lost, Burn Notice, The Middleman, Day Break, Due South, etc. Oh, and I'm considering rewatching Alias; Covert Affairs has made me nostalgic for it.

There’s very little on TV that I’m interested in at the moment, and what little there is, I think I…

[31

post-13314","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-television
["GET
