This one is a change of pace: it makes me laugh every time I read it. Dinosaurs! From Mars! Riding motocross! Driving a monster truck! Cracking jokes! (Published in 2009.) (3,900 words.)<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<p>(See also the full <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/jed\/pages\/strange_horizons_flashbacks.html\">list of Flashback stories<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr width=\"25%\" \/>\n<p class=\"centered\"><strong>SPOILERS FOLLOW<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr width=\"25%\" \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>...Actually, I'm not sure I have any spoilery comments on this one. It makes me laugh out loud every couple of paragraphs, and it's probably the most Infernokrusher story we ever published, but I don't have a lot of Deep Thoughts about it; I just enjoyed the heck out of it.<\/p>\n<p>I guess I'll take this opportunity to note that my favorite line in the story is near the beginning, when Tark is trying unsuccessfully to buy a gun at the gun store, and ends up settling for buying a magazine instead, and then says: &ldquo;I got ripped off. That periodical contained neither guns nor ammo.&rdquo; I love jokes that make me take a second to figure out what the joke is and then make me laugh out loud.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new entry in my weekly Strange Horizons retrospective.
