{"id":1677,"date":"2004-01-08T21:55:17","date_gmt":"2004-01-09T05:55:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/jed\/2004\/01\/08\/1677.html"},"modified":"2004-01-08T21:55:17","modified_gmt":"2004-01-09T05:55:17","slug":"conquering-aliens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/jed\/2004\/01\/08\/conquering-aliens\/","title":{"rendered":"Conquering aliens"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Earlier this evening, I finished listening to Mykle and Gesine's Xmas card, which was a half-hour audio play (on CD) entitled <cite>The Martians Conquer Santa Claus!<\/cite>  Very silly but fun, featuring an exploitative Santa Claus, an average all-American family, and the triumph of capitalism, all sponsored by Individually Snack-Wrapped Gluten's Glazed Ham Snaps&#8212;\"When you're out of Gluten's, you're out of Christmas!\"<\/p>\n<p>And then Amy pointed me to <a href=\"http:\/\/excelsiorstudios.net\/comic.html\">Anne Frank Conquers Moon Nazis<\/a>, a very silly (and rather blasphemous) webcomic.  Fun!  I don't normally like this strong a cartoony look, but I think it works well here.  Unfortunately, the series stops abruptly after episode 17 (apparently a third of the way through the planned storyline); I hope it continues sometime.  Sample quote:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Maybe the Doc is planning to take over the world with his own harem of brutally lethal, genetically engineered, super-hot cybernetic teenage girls?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The same artist appears to have been working on a really excellent-looking Peter Pan webcomic which was supposed to launch December 27 but apparently didn't.
