That reaction has faded over time, but it still comes up sometimes.

On Monday morning, in Oak Park, I was awakened at 5 am by engine sounds. Not revving this time; just a steady loud thrum that sounded like it was coming from right outside my window. It went on for maybe an hour.

Monday night, back home, I went to bed exhausted around 1 am, and suddenly someone in the neighborhood started revving their car or motorcycle engine. This one wasn’t nearby, but it was annoying, especially in the middle of the night. I think I eventually turned on some music or ambient sound to cover it up, and went to sleep.

This morning around 6 am, I was awakened by more engine-revving. This time it sounded like it was a block or two away. It went on for maybe ten minutes.
I eventually fell back asleep for a while.

I hope this trend doesn’t continue.

[46,106

post-16968","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-loud-car-guy","category-sleep
["GET
