But most of the biggest stresses got resolved, and I’m still sleepy. Saturday night, I got nine hours of sleep, then Sunday afternoon I fell asleep on the couch for a couple hours, then by early evening I was sleepy again.

It’s not that I’m especially tired; it’s just that I have a hard time keeping my eyes open, and I’m having a harder time staying focused on anything than usual, and I feel like I’m thinking in a fog.

Short version of the doctor visit: the doctor thinks it’s probably sleep apnea, brought on or intensified by weight gain.

I was unhappy to hear that for a variety of reasons, but I suppose it seems pretty plausible.

My doctor recommended a place to do a sleep study; I called them and sat on hold for about 45 minutes, then talked with someone who told me that the first step was to schedule an appointment to see a doctor. They had assigned me a particular doctor, whose next available appointment was in late October.

I hadn’t especially wanted to do a sleep study immediately, but the prospect of continuing in my current state for the next two months was kind of distressing. But it turns out that since I haven’t been there before, I don’t have to see the doctor they assigned me to. So they assigned me to another doctor, who can see me in about three weeks. I’m not sure why they started by assigning me to a doctor who wasn’t available, but never mind that.

Anyway, my doctor also had me get some blood drawn for lab tests, just to be sure it’s not something else. We’ll see.

[29,106

post-17465","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-life-updates","category-sleep
["GET
