I usually strongly dislike slasher movies, but I often quite like time-loop and time-travel movies, and in these two cases, the stuff I liked outweighed the stuff I disliked. (Thanks to the person who recommended these! (not sure whether you want to be named here))

I recently went and looked at various best-movies-of-2025 lists, and was surprised to see that they tended to consist (very roughly) of 40% movies that I knew about but had no interest in watching, 10% movies that I saw but didn’t love, and 50% movies that I had never even heard of. I’m apparently not nearly as aware of what’s going on in the movie world as I used to be.

On a related side topic, I’m not sure what I’m going to nominate for the Hugo award in the Dramatic Presentation, Long Form Hugo category. Definitely KPop Demon Hunters (which was on my third-tier favorites list, not shown above), and Andor s2, and Murderbot s1. I haven’t seen Sinners yet; will watch it before the nomination deadline.
