(Scanners of the sort that work with modern computers, not the sort that live in vain. Though I do wonder if Martel and the other scanners in that story ever had to deal with the heartbreak of driver upgrades.) This morning, after deleting a couple of these spam comments, it occurred to me that perhaps the person's web hosting company wouldn't be happy about the spamming. I checked, and sure enough flywebs.com has terms of service that prohibit spamming. So I dropped them a polite note at 8:29 a.m. letting them know about the situation. I didn't expect to hear back from them at all.

But at 8:42 a.m., I received a note from them letting me know that they'd removed the account. And I checked, and yup, the web page is gone.

In an ideal world, I suppose it would be nicer to talk with the spammer and convince them, through logic and empathy, that spamming isn't a good idea. And I might be a little concerned about an ISP removing accounts solely on the basis of a single email from a random stranger, with no supporting evidence. (Though for all I know, mine was the twentieth complaint of the day about this person.)

Still, I can't help being pleased with the alacrity with which the ISP dealt with the issue.

Some bozo has been spamming my journal’s comments section (mostly for older entries) with comments like: This is a very…

[1

post-2446","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
