{"id":264,"date":"2002-01-09T13:06:34","date_gmt":"2002-01-09T21:06:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/jed\/2002\/01\/09\/264.html"},"modified":"2002-01-09T13:06:34","modified_gmt":"2002-01-09T21:06:34","slug":"its-been-over-two-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/jed\/2002\/01\/09\/its-been-over-two-years\/","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s been over two years. . ."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>.&nbsp;.&nbsp;. since Bill Gates was assassinated (December 2, 1999), and Jack Perdue (curator of the best <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billgatesisdead.com\/\">Gates memorial site<\/a> on the Web) is angry, because apparently nobody cares.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.citizensfortruth.org\/\">Citizens for Truth<\/a>, who were outspoken against the findings of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.garcettireport.org\/\">Garcetti Report<\/a>, has fallen silent.  Was the assassination in fact \"the first shot in the class war\" (as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.angelfire.com\/biz7\/firstshot\/\">Warren\/MacAdams biography of alleged assassin Alek Hidell<\/a> (available from Amazon!) would have it), or was something more sinister going on?<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/jed\/pix\/gates_memorial_ribbon_w.gif\" align=\"right\">Perdue's memorial site is very nicely put together, providing a nice intro in Flash (which you can bypass if you want), a discussion forum (where some people persist in saying that the whole thing is some kind of giant hoax and Gates is still alive), and film clips from the independent documentary <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nothingsostrange.com\/\">Nothing So Strange<\/a> (as in, there's nothing so strange as the truth).  (Filmmaker Brian Flemming also provides a production diary, including some thoughtful <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nothingsostrange.com\/diary\/082901.html\">notes on documentary ethics and racism<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>In some alternate world, a world where Bill Gates survived to the present day, this would be an impressive work of multimedia hypertext science fiction (of the alternate-history variety); in such a world it would be eligible for a Best Web Site Hugo award, though it would suffer from the same multiplicity-of-sites problem as the Cloudmakers game.
