{"id":3465,"date":"2006-04-01T10:44:16","date_gmt":"2006-04-01T18:44:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/jed\/2006\/04\/01\/3465.html"},"modified":"2006-04-01T10:44:16","modified_gmt":"2006-04-01T18:44:16","slug":"contextual-dataing-and-ads-on","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/jed\/2006\/04\/01\/contextual-dataing-and-ads-on\/","title":{"rendered":"Contextual dating and ads on the moon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Two items just in:<\/p>\n<p>First, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vnunet.com\/vnunet\/news\/2153220\/google-brand-moon\">Google to advertise on the moon<\/a>, a vnunet.com article by one Arif Pollo, published today.  \"In the most wide-scale advertising attempt ever known, Google plans to brand its logo into the surface of the moon so that it is visible from Earth.\"<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, back on Earth, Google has today launched <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/romance\/\">Google Romance (Beta)<\/a>, \"a place where you can post all types of romantic information and, using our Soulmate Search&trade;, get back search results that could, in theory, include the love of your life.\"<\/p>\n<p>I highly recommend clicking all of the links from the Google Romance page; there's a lot of good stuff there.  I especially like this:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>When you do a Soulmate Search, your deeply personal and potentially life-altering search results are produced solely by computer algorithm, without human intervention of any kind.<\/p>\n<p>Note: depending on your personality, you may or may not find this reassuring.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Even the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/romance\/press.html\">press release<\/a> is worth reading (all the way through, including the \"About\" section), especially if you've been following news about Google in the past couple of months.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/romance\/faq.html\">FAQ<\/a> is good, too.
