{"id":3599,"date":"2006-07-01T23:18:53","date_gmt":"2006-07-02T06:18:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/jed\/2006\/07\/01\/3599.html"},"modified":"2006-07-01T23:18:53","modified_gmt":"2006-07-02T06:18:53","slug":"rip-jim-baen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/jed\/2006\/07\/01\/rip-jim-baen\/","title":{"rendered":"R.I.P., Jim Baen"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I knew Jim Baen had had a stroke a couple of weeks ago, but I hadn't known until just now that he died on June 28.<\/p>\n<p>There's a good <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baens-universe.com\/articles\/JB_Obit\">obituary<\/a> by David Drake over at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baens-universe.com\/\">Jim Baen's Universe<\/a>, the new online magazine.<\/p>\n<p>(And by the way, the first issue of that magazine was apparently published a month ago, featuring stories by Alan Dean Foster, Gregory Benford, Charles Stross, Jo Walton, and others.
