But I was pleased to have indirectly played a role in their getting to know each other, and I was pleased to be asked to join their wedding party.

(This was only the second wedding I've attended this year--third if you count S&S's reception thingy that wasn't actually a wedding but played an equivalent social role. My friends aren't getting married as often as they were a few years ago.)

The brief ceremony went smoothly as far as I could tell from my somewhat dazed position in the midst of it. It was outdoors, at the Temescal Beach House in Oakland, overlooking Temescal Lake. Both brides were lovely in white suits. We attendants wore black, plus matching rust-colored shirts and yellow calla lilies (I think?) for boutonnieres and corsages.

Bunches of friends were in attendance, but I didn't get to talk much with most of them, alas. I did get to chat some with the people at our table (half of whom read this journal--hi, y'all!), and with the other attendants.

I took a whole bunch of photos, though not, of course, during the ceremony.

I think I had more to say about all this, but it's late and I'm tired, so I think I'll sign off here.

Yay, Beth & Catie! Congratulations again!

Today my old friend (and ex-sweetie) Beth got married to Kam’s high-school friend Catie.
