Too many submissions still arriving at home. Sleep still elusive, or rather fragmentary--still waking up two or three times a night, and though I'm mostly falling back asleep quickly, it's taking a toll on my energy levels and coherence.

(I can't imagine what it's like to have a baby and have to do this interrupted-sleep thing for weeks at a time. I continue to be impressed with those of you who've managed it in the past and/or are managing it now.)

Went in to work this morning, but by lunchtime my stomach was unhappy (and I was exhausted). I was vaguely considering just giving up on the day and going home, and then I stopped by our intranet home page for some reason and saw a list of titles of today's postings on the official (public) Google blog, one of which said: Feeling sick? Go home!

I took that as a Sign.

Sadly, I have too much work to do right now to take a real sick day, at least in the absence of serious illness, so I decided to work at home. But at least that affords the opportunity for naps if necessary, and means that if I am sick at least I won't infect my colleagues.

Once home, I had some lunch, expecting that it would not sit well with the unhappy stomach. But in fact I started feeling a lot better, though still exhausted. Got some work done and took a brief nap in the afternoon.

Editorial meeting this evening; then some more coding to try and make it easier for me to enter new submissions into the database; then some more work work, 'cause I had hoped to get a draft out today; then some overdue magazine editing.

The last of which ended up taking less time than I had expected, so I'm actually done for the night. So I'm going to go to bed, early for me, and hoping to get a significant amount of uninterrupted sleep.

And hoping y'all do too, to the extent feasible in your various circumstances. G'night!

Things still ultra-busy at work. Too many submissions still arriving at home.
