It was getting to the point where I was vaguely considering growing it out again—but it was also getting to the point where I was being reminded of what a pain it is when it's longer. In particular, in the past few years I've gotten very used to my hair being completely dry in 20 minutes or so after a shower, without having to resort to blow-dryers and other such paraphernalia.

Partly it takes me a while to get around to getting a haircut under the best of circumstances, even though the place I've been going on and off for ten years is only a 10-minute walk from my apartment. Partly I've been ultra-busy the past couple months. And partly I've been trying to find a way to get a haircut at my usual place without dealing with Obnoxious Question-Asking Guy. Yesterday I called them up to make an appointment with the person I like there, and they told me she was on vacation. "'Til when?" I asked. "Next month," they said.

So I figured I'd go in today and try to get someone other than Obnoxious Guy, and if I got Obnoxious Guy then I would tell him upfront that I didn't feel like chatting, and if he persisted then I would start looking for another place to get my hair cut.

But instead, everything went fine. Obnoxious Guy wasn't even there. Someone else cut my hair; she asked a couple of questions about how I wanted it cut that I had a hard time answering, but I knew it didn't matter much, because no matter what I say, everyone there always cuts my hair exactly the same way. Luckily, it's a style I like.

So my hair's short again. Nice to feel wind and sun on back of neck. Very pleased. Sadly, certain people will be disappointed; but they're not the ones who have to take care of my hair when it gets long. (I suppose I should've taken pictures, since this was probably as long as it'll get for quite a while, but I didn't have any convenient way to do that.) I approve of long hair on general principles, but it's too much of a pain when it's mine.

I think it’s been a bit over four months since I last got a haircut.
