(If I read Slashdot every day, I'd never get anything done, so I only look at stuff there that people specifically point me to.) But this morning I saw the Hugo announcement there, and saw a posted comment noting that it only took 21 votes to get on the ballot in the short-story category (and saying that memberships were really expensive), and figured I might as well supply a little more info. So I did; and lo and behold, a few short hours later my posting has been moderated up to a score of 4, so even people like me who don't read low-scoring comments will see it! Cool beans. I sneakily listed SH as my URL, so it could conceivably even bring us a bit more traffic, though that's doubtful.

(For those with no idea what I'm talking about, on Slashdot the readers can give points to or remove points from posted comments; a comment starts with 1 point, and can be given up to 5, and you can choose to read only comments rated higher than a specified point value.)

I almost never post on Slashdot, partly because I don’t generally read articles there ’til the discussion’s long over.
