But I quite like this quotation from him, which I've seen before but easily forget:<\/p>\n<p>\"[I]t does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.\"<\/p>\n<p>Of course, I certainly don't mean this as a final authority; if he'd said the opposite, I would disagree with him, rather than saying \"Jefferson said it so it must be right.\"  But it's nice to see a nice pithy line from a well-respected authority that sums up an issue so well.<\/p>\n<p>Were Jefferson alive today, no doubt, GWB would deride him as an elitist intellectual.
