This friend was getting ready to go to a wedding, and her boyfriend asked her what she was going to wear.  She told him she was going to wear such-and-such dress, and he took out a little box and opened it up to reveal an engagement ring, and said something like, \"Would you consider wearing this ring too?\"<\/p>\n<p>I thought that was charming.  But perhaps even more charming (from a geek perspective) is something I only just came across, though it happened a while ago: CmdrTaco, the guy who runs Slashdot, <a href=\"http:\/\/slashdot.org\/article.pl?sid=02\/02\/14\/143254\">proposing in a Slashdot posting<\/a>.  There are some great comments posted, too; I was going to quote a couple of them, then realized that they're probably funnier in context (and mostly only funny to geeks with a little familiarity of how Slashdot works).<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday at work a co-worker told a story about a friend.
