It's very cute, and very soft. I like it.

But we encountered some difficulty when it came time to assign various attributes, such as species, name, and gender.

There are currently three contenders for species:

heffalump

aardvark

baby elephant

I have a preference among those, but I'm willing to listen to reasoned arguments. (Such as: "You idiot, that's obviously a _____." For some value of _____.)

Gender may depend partly on name, though I reserve the right to give my stuffed animals inappropriately-gendered names, so name may turn out to be irrelevant to gender. Still, there are currently two contenders for gender:

male

female

Finally, there have been several proposed names. I again have a current favorite, but would be happy to hear others. If you would like to suggest a name, drop me a note.

I may hold a vote/poll about this at some point. Or I may choose whichever name I like best. At any rate, I will certainly post all names received, unless I'm asked not to.

Kam gave me (through means too circuitous to recount here) a new stuffed animal (it seems fine to refer to…

[42

post-697","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-heffalumps
["GET
