There\n  could be a SimEarth world containing thousands of SimCities; each city would\n  contain houses populated by The Sims; in the back yards there would be SimAnt\n  games\n  going\n  on; and so on. Not quite the same thing, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.time.com\/time\/sampler\/article\/0,8599,391544,00.html\">The\n  Sims Online<\/a>\n  launches in December: it's a networked version of The Sims, letting your Sims\n  interact with other people's Sims. I predict that it'll be as popular as EverQuest.<\/p>\n<p>Various small police departments have decided to allow advertisers to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2002\/US\/Northeast\/11\/19\/police.ads.ap\/\">buy\n  ad <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2002\/US\/Northeast\/11\/19\/police.ads.ap\/\">space\n  on patrol cars<\/a>. Wacky.<\/p>\n<p>The next Harry Potter movie will be directed by the guy who directed <cite>Y\n  Tu Mama Tambien.<\/cite><\/p>\n<p>I've always been fascinated by the notion of hooking up bots to talk with\n  each other. Back in high school, we used to wish we had a copy of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ezine.melb.net\/%7Esaul\/essays\/09racter.html\">Racter<\/a> (the\n  computer program that &quot;wrote&quot; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.robotwisdom.com\/ai\/racterfaq.html\"><cite>The\n  Policeman's Beard Is Half-Constructed<\/cite><\/a>) (also the source of longtime Hartman\/Evans catchphrase \"I need electricity.  I need it for my dreams\") so\n  we could (among other things) set up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stanford.edu\/group\/SHR\/4-2\/text\/dialogues.html\">conversations\n  between Racter and Eliza<\/a>.
