{"id":718,"date":"2002-11-22T11:49:29","date_gmt":"2002-11-22T19:49:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/jed\/2002\/11\/22\/718.html"},"modified":"2002-11-22T11:49:29","modified_gmt":"2002-11-22T19:49:29","slug":"mentioned-on-slashdot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/jed\/2002\/11\/22\/mentioned-on-slashdot\/","title":{"rendered":"Mentioned on slashdot"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Well, we haven't been slashdotted per se, but someone on slashdot did post\n  a <a href=\"http:\/\/slashdot.org\/comments.pl?sid=45760&cid=4730263\">comment<\/a> some\n  hours back (in response to a <a href=\"http:\/\/slashdot.org\/article.pl?sid=02\/11\/22\/0254259&tid=129\">slashdot\n  article<\/a> about a <a href=\"http:\/\/homepage.mac.com\/beowulf\/iamfarscape\/iMovieTheater41.html\">commercial\n  produced by <cite>Farscape<\/cite> fans<\/a>) that pointed to <cite>SH<\/cite> and\n  our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.strangehorizons.com\/2002\/20021014\/farscape.shtml\"><cite>Farscape<\/cite> article<\/a>.\n  The comment's been moderated up to the highest possible rating for a slashdot\n  comment, so it should be visible to even the most persnickety of comment-readers.\n  It hasn't sent traffic through the roof the way a main article pointing to <cite>SH<\/cite> would,\n  but it's definitely increasing traffic.<\/p>\n<p>The commercial itself, I'm afraid, isn't anything really special; it consists\n  of a bunch of <cite>Farscape<\/cite> fans saying what they do for a living and\n  adding &quot;and I am <cite>Farscape.<\/cite>&quot; I'm not sure who it's aimed at;\n  the point seems to be &quot;a diverse range of people love this show.&quot; But still,\n  kind of a cool experiment in grass-roots media efforts.<\/p>\n<p>But the thing that surprised me most about the commercial is that my friend\n  Jessica E. is in it.
