I first noticed it in December while reading the submitted stories from the second half of November: mostly I noticed that there were a bunch of stories about rape and murder and various kinds of nonconsensual sex, but there was also a smaller run of stories featuring (various forms of) cannibalism.

They were submitted a couple of weeks before the German cannibalism case, so they weren't a reaction to that. And I just read a rather good but rather unpleasant Mat Coward story in the 9/02 issue of Interzone that features cannibalism, and that was presumably written a minimum of seven or eight months ago.

It might just be another coincidence; that happens now and then, with a rash of unicorn stories or selkie stories or stories featuring Hitler or Stalin or whatever. And I haven't heard about a cannibalism anthology. But I'm curious about whether there is one. Not, mind you, that I particularly want to read it if so. (I have nothing against cannibalism stories per se; just not a big fan of them in general, and don't have any particular interest in reading a bunch of them at once.)

Is there a cannibalism sf anthology coming out soon?
