{"id":810,"date":"2003-01-07T19:48:53","date_gmt":"2003-01-08T03:48:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/journals\/jed\/2003\/01\/07\/810.html"},"modified":"2003-01-07T19:48:53","modified_gmt":"2003-01-08T03:48:53","slug":"sfwa-grandmaster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/jed\/2003\/01\/07\/sfwa-grandmaster\/","title":{"rendered":"SFWA Grandmaster"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Since 1975, SFWA has been giving the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfwa.org\/awards\/grand.htm\">Grand Master award<\/a> \"to a living author for a lifetime's achievement in  science fiction and\/or fantasy.\"  Apparently (if I'm remembering the story right) it wasn't originally intended to be an annual award, but rather an occasional one, for deserving authors.  But it's become almost annual recently.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 19 authors who've received the award so far, only one is female; Andre Norton got it back in 1983.  But Ursula K.
