{"id":15,"date":"1973-10-01T00:01:43","date_gmt":"1973-10-01T07:01:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/pmjj\/?p=15"},"modified":"2022-07-03T14:20:59","modified_gmt":"2022-07-03T21:20:59","slug":"1973-fall-ish-kid-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/pmjj\/1973\/10\/01\/1973-fall-ish-kid-art\/","title":{"rendered":"1973, fall-ish?: Kid art"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>Amid the old family letters are half a dozen undated drawings and paintings by me or Jay.<\/p>\r\n<p>They\u2019re pretty standard kid art\u2014they appear to consist entirely of random squiggly lines, with no evident order or shape. I wouldn\u2019t have posted them just for the art.<\/p>\r\n<p>But they\u2019re also accompanied by text descriptions, presumably transcribed (by Marcy) from spoken descriptions by me or Jay, and I\u2019m finding those just barely interesting enough to want to post them. Though that\u2019s as much from a desire for completeness as any other reason.<\/p>\r\n<p>Which is why I\u2019m posting all of them in one entry. If you\u2019re not interested in my (age 5&nbsp;&half;ish) and Jay\u2019s (age 3&nbsp;&half;ish) descriptions of our art, feel free to skip this post.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u2026Although these ones are undated, other similar kid art that does have dates attached is mostly from November and December 1973. They\u2019re driving in and out of the tunnels. They\u2019res bus[?] on the city and the cars are trying to get to a different city so they could stay there. There\u2019s a cave at the end of the tunnel. They have to go thru the cave and there is lots of lights in it so they can see where they\u2019re going. They\u2019re at the other city.<\/p>\r\n<p>from JED <span class=\"jed-note\">My name is written in my all-caps printing.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\u2026That probably doesn\u2019t say <i>bus<\/i>, but I\u2019m not sure what it does say. <i>lnus<\/i>?<\/p>\r\n<hr width=\"25%\" \/>\r\n<p>And now a story about Alice in Wonderland, by Jay. Take them over to the other team. As soon as Alice took the strawberry pies, the Judge said \u201ctake this pridsoner over to the dungeon.\u201d So all the guards came & alice said, \u201cbut you ordered me to.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p>So Alice got put in the dungeon And Then she found Humpty Dumpty & the White Rabbit in jail. It\u2019s the fancy part. After she got put in jail she said, \u201cOh gee, I\u2019ll never find Fluff.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p>So Humpty Dumpty fell apart & the judge tried to put H.D. back together again but the judge couldn\u2019t.<\/p>\r\n<p>She finally got home again & she <u>still<\/u> didn\u2019t have <strike>Fluff<\/strike> Flupp. She finally found <strike>Fluff<\/strike> Flupp again before she got home. And a knight came up to Alice & chased Flupp away, and after he chased Flupp away he said K-night in front of Alice.<\/p>\r\n<p>And Alice finally got home and the White Rabbit came & gave a present to Alice. And she opened the present and then it was Flupp. And that was the end of the story. So he hammered his nails into his door<\/p>\r\n<p>As soon as there were no doors left he stepped right out of his room and then he saw a <strike>xxx<\/strike> he saw a lion*. And then he said Hello. Then DING and everybody woke up. And he got yelled at. And he wanted to sing And he couldn\u2019t. So he ran into his room, got the beer bottle out of his closet and then he <strike>xxx<\/strike> drank it and he fell right<\/p>\r\n<p>to<\/p>\r\n<p>sleep<\/p>\r\n<p>* Instead of a lion, it was a hippopotamus that just took a shower. Then it was night. So he fell right to sleep. Then DING A LING right after he went to sleep. Then EVERYBODY woke up.<\/p>\r\n<p>There was the hippopotamus. Then <strike>the police came<\/strike> they called the police. Then the hippotamus run-run-run fast as he could. The police came and he arrested the hippopotamus. The hippopotamus had to go to jail. The policemen said \u201cYou have to stay in there for a hundred weeks! Have a good hundred weeks in jail!!\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p>That\u2019s all.<\/p>\r\n<p>All the police said \u201cHave a good hundred weeks in jail.\u201d Then they locked him up!<\/p>\r\n<p>love,<\/p>\r\n<p><span class=\"jed-note\">I\u2019m guessing the scribble at the end of this is Jay\u2019s attempt at writing his name\u2014it at least seems to start with <i>JOA<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<hr width=\"25%\" \/>\r\n<p>The last undated image is missing the image. It\u2019s a half sheet of paper in Marcy\u2019s handwriting that talks about a picture, but the picture itself is missing, leaving me unclear on whether it was a drawing or (say) a photo. I feel like a photo is more likely. Anyway, here\u2019s the text:<\/p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p class=\"no-indent\">Dear Grandma<\/p>\r\n<p>We hope you will love the secret house in this picture as much as we love it\u2014especially the boys\u2014tell \u2019em something\u2019s a secret and they\u2019ll treasure it\u2014and this secret treasure is special because people really lived in it once. Love,<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"text-right\">PMJ&J<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\u2026For all I know, that last one might have been from years later.
