In my transcription below, I\u2019ve regularized the capitalization and spacing between words.<\/p>\r\n<p>Jay had just turned five. This is impressively well-written considering that he was still learning to read; it even almost entirely uses punctuation correctly.<\/p>\r\n<figure id=\"attachment_1848\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 252px\"><img src=\"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/pmjj\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/1975\/03\/Jay-letter-1975-1-1-242x300.jpg\" alt=\"Jay\u2019s first letter to G&amp;H\" width=\"242\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1848\" \/><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">Jay\u2019s first letter to G&H<\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n<p>It was written on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/pmjj\/1972\/05\/01\/1972-may-ish-letter-from-jed-to-gh\/\">clown-and-balloon stationery<\/a> that I\u2019ve mentioned here before. The fact that we were still using that stationery three years after first receiving it may suggest that Jay and I weren\u2019t writing enough letters to George and Helen. :) (I suppose I have to take most of the responsibility for that, given that Jay wasn\u2019t writing letters at all before this one.)<\/p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>Dear Grandma & Grandpa in Tacoma,<\/p>\r\n<p>Thank you for the clothes.
