But more on that anon.<\/p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>Dear Grandfolks<\/p>\r\n<p>It sounds <u>so<\/u> great! I was ready to drive up there the day we got your <strike>xxx<\/strike> letter - but we have to find a new house first, and it\u2019s pretty tough. Soon as we do, and get moved, if there\u2019s time before school starts, I\u2019ll check out a driveaway - Jed & Joaquin are all ready to pack at a second\u2019s notice, & Ivan wants to come, too. Peter has to work - did he tell you - at a Sebastopol bookstore, Mon, Tues, <strike>xxx<\/strike> Friday & Saturday, <strike>xxx<\/strike> soon to be weekend manager. He loves it. Oh, how lovely to have such a wonderful house!<\/p>\r\n<p>Hey, when is that baby comin\u2019?<\/p>\r\n<p>Hope to see you soon. Much love<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"text-right\">Marcy<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<h2>Notes<\/h2>\r\n<dl>\r\n  <dt>G&H\u2019s new house<\/dt>\r\n  <dd>George and Helen lived at the same address for years before this and decades after this, so I think that the house that Marcy was referring to here must have been the beach house that G&H and at least one of my uncles bought together, somewhere in the greater Seattle area. I only visited there once or twice.<\/dd>\r\n  <dt>driveaway<\/dt>\r\n  <dd>I haven\u2019t heard of anyone using a driveaway car service in decades, but a quick web search reveals that such services still exist.<\/dd>\r\n  <dt>Ivan<\/dt>\r\n  <dd>As of the previous letter from Marcy, Ivan and George were the only foster kids left. I think that George left us before we moved out of the big house, but there\u2019s no mention of his departure in the letters. At any rate, by the time of this letter, I think Ivan was the only one who was still with us.<\/dd>\r\n  <dt>bookstore<\/dt>\r\n  <dd>I\u2019m guessing that the store in question was Merit Book Center. I knew that Marcy worked there (later), but I hadn\u2019t known or hadn\u2019t remembered that Peter had worked there. Apparently he took George\u2019s advice to \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kith.org\/pmjj\/1975\/01\/23\/1975-january-23-letter-from-peter-and-marcy-to-gh\/\">get a job<\/a>\u201d to heart after all!<\/dd>\r\n  <dd>I did a quick web search to see if anyone else had posted about that particular bookstore; found someone\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/dareiread.blogspot.com\/2005\/05\/many-colored-land.html\">blog post<\/a> mentioning that the store closed in 1982.<\/dd>\r\n  <dt>\u201cthat baby\u201d<\/dt>\r\n  <dd>My cousin Jason, born not long after this letter was sent. (Oddly, Helen at some later point wrote \u201c??
