I had wanted to write a bunch of notes on other things, including political rhetoric. I reread the infamous <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/news\/releases\/2003\/05\/20030501-15.html\">Mission Accomplished<\/a> speech on Monday, and if I had had time to calm down and then write, I would have written about that. Then there&#8217;s the whole <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/linkset\/2005\/04\/11\/LI2005041100879.html\">Stephen Colbert<\/a> business, which is interesting, and yesterday was the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/news\/releases\/2006\/05\/20060503-14.html\">National Day of Prayer<\/a>, which does deserve an entry of its own, and then there&#8217;s an incredibly interesting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edow.org\/follow\/part1.html\">report from the Episcopal Diocese of Washington<\/a> about how the split in the US Episcopal church has been funded by groups with close ties to Republicans, and may well have been motivated by secular political passions, rather than the (real) theological disagreement.\n<p>And maybe I&#8217;ll get to some of those, and maybe I won&#8217;t.
