The only reason I picked up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kith.org\/vardibidian\/journal\/show-entry.php?Entry_ID=10306\">The Day of the Triffids<\/a> at the local library was because I had already picked up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madaboutbooks.com\/index.asp?url=bookdetails.asp&amp;book=5947&amp;best=\">The Night of the Triffids<\/a>, and figured I should read them in order. This book, by Simon Clark, an evidently fairly well-known horror writer of whom YHB was previously unaware, is a sequel, set twenty-five years after the events in Mr. Wyndham&#8217;s book. Does it seem like a bad idea? Yes, it seems like a bad idea. Is it, therefore, a bad book? No, it&#8217;s actually quite a good book.\n<p>YHB was impressed by how Mr. Clark managed both to keep the tone and feel of the original and to put together an altogether new book. Also, you know, sixty-foot-high aquatic triffids.
