It was only last week that I discovered the series of children&#8217;s non-fiction books published by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salariya.com\/about\/pages\/about.html\">Salariya Books<\/a> called <i>You Wouldn&#8217;t Want To&#8230;<\/i> My first exposure was to <i>You Wouldn&#8217;t Want To Work On the Great Wall of China<\/i>. It turns out that prison laborer on the Great Wall is not much of a job to have, really. The next book Your Humble Blogger chose was <i>You Wouldn&#8217;t Want To Be an Aristocrat in the French Revolution<\/i>. And, you know, you wouldn&#8217;t.\n<p>I amused myself with coming up with potential titles for the series, but it turns out that with 42 books over six years, they are way ahead of me. <i>You Wouldn't Want to Be a 19th-Century Coal Miner in England!<\/i> <i>You Wouldn't Want to Be a Roman Gladiator!<\/i> <i> You Wouldn't Want to Be an Aztec Sacrifice!<\/i> <i>You Wouldn't Want to Be a Victorian Mill Worker!<\/i> <i> You Wouldn't Want to Be on Apollo 13!<\/i> We are not making this up. Neither are we making this up. Those are all actual titles.\n<p>Which leads us to the only remaining place to go, <i>don&#8217;t go there<\/i>. You Wouldn't Want to Be on the Trail of Tears! You Wouldn't Want to Be in Treblinka! You Wouldn&#8217;t Want to Be on the Long March! You Wouldn't Want to Be Infected with Syphilis! You Wouldn't Want to Have a Plunger Shoved up your Ass by the NYPD! You Wouldn't Want to Undergo Ritual Genital Mutilation! You Wouldn't Want to Make Me Angry! You Wouldn&#8217;t Want to Be a Fictional Character in the Works of H.P. Lovecraft! You Wouldn&#8217;t Want to Lead a Life of Quiet Desperation! You Wouldn&#8217;t Want to see the best minds of your generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked!\n<p>You Wouldn&#8217;t Want to Suffer Death and Be Buried, and on the Third Day Rise Again! You Wouldn&#8217;t Want to Have the Walkin&#8217; Blues! You Wouldn&#8217;t Want to Be Too Much i&#8217;the Sun! You Wouldn&#8217;t Want to Lay Down and Weep By the Waters of Babylon!
