And, in fact, when I picked up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harpercollins.com\/books\/9780060876272\/Fly_by_Night\/index.aspx\">Fly-By-Night<\/a> by Frances Hardinge, I thought to myself <i>Self<\/i> I thought <i>You will get three chapters into this cheap knock-off and find yourself slogging through two hundred pages of predictable trite and utterly tedious claptrap.<\/i><br \/>\n<p>Fortunately, such was not the case. Sure, most of the credit belongs to Ms. Hardinge, who actually wrote the book, but I feel that it is a significant accomplishment on my part to keep my mental apparatus fresh enough to enjoy a good book in a worn-out category.<br \/>\n<p><I>Tolerabimus quod tolerare debemus<\/I>,<br>-Vardibidian.<br \/>\n<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Which Your Humble Blogger appears to have a Mental Age of ten, although with more stamina.
